Beachfront Apartment
Porlamar · Margarita Island
Sea-view apartment in Porlamar, a five-minute walk to the shore.
The home, in photographs
An ocean-facing apartment in Porlamar, on the busier side of the island. From the balcony you can see the line of boats coming in at sunset and, on a clear morning, the silhouette of the mainland in the distance.
Inside: a long living room with the kind of windows that earn their keep, a separate kitchen, and a bedroom that catches the morning sun without ever getting too hot. We chose the bed linens, the rugs, the coffee.
Outside: the beach is a five-minute walk. Boulevard 4 de Mayo and the restaurants of Calle Igualdad are a short stroll further. The Hilton's pool deck is, sometimes, a useful neighbour.
The location
Porlamar is Margarita's commercial city — more traffic, more shops, the airport is twenty minutes east. That energy is also the point: restaurants open late, the market is well-stocked, the pharmacy is open at ten at night. The sea is still the sea. From the balcony you get the full horizon — boats, the occasional tanker, and on clear mornings, the distant outline of the Venezuelan coast.
The apartment
Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room oriented entirely toward the sea. The windows are the apartment's best feature — they run the full width of the front wall and let in a quality of light that photographs don't capture. In the evenings, the sunset turns the living room walls a particular shade of orange that guests consistently mention. We chose the furniture for the view, not against it.
The beach
Five minutes on foot, through a quiet residential street that runs straight to the shore. Playa El Agua is the island's famous beach and is forty minutes by taxi if you want white sand and beach bars. But the local stretch in front of Porlamar — less visited, less photographed — has its own character: wide at low tide, good for swimming, and genuinely uncrowded on weekday mornings.
Eating & nightlife
Boulevard 4 de Mayo runs along the waterfront a few blocks south — seafood restaurants, cold beers, tables that fill up after nine. Calle Igualdad has everything from Venezuelan street food to Italian. La Romana and Punto Criollo are local favourites for a proper dinner. If you want to cook: the Mercado de Conejeros, a twenty-minute drive north, is where the island buys its fish every morning.

The practical stuff
Hard facts
- Electricity
- CORPOELEC mains at 220V / 60 Hz. The building has a communal generator for the common areas; the apartment itself relies on the grid. Power outages in Porlamar tend to be shorter than inland — the city has priority infrastructure. We keep a torch and a portable fan on standby.
- Water
- Municipal supply to a rooftop storage tank, gravity-fed to the apartment. The tank is refilled daily. Pressure is consistent and the water is clean. No water-supply issues have been reported by guests.
- Air conditioning
- Inverter split-units in the living room and all three bedrooms. The sea-facing living room also benefits from natural cross-ventilation when the balcony door is open — on most evenings you can choose breeze over A/C.
- Internet
- 100 Mbps fibre. Dedicated router in the apartment with the password on the welcome card. Upload tested above 35 Mbps. Reliable enough for back-to-back video calls.
- Parking
- Street parking is generally available on the block. No dedicated space. For a high-season trip or extended stay, private parking lots are within a five-minute walk at low daily rates.
